PPL gets physical for National Fitness Day

Music licensing organisation PPL named National Fitness Day’s Official Music Partner for 2017.

Music licensing organisation PPL has teamed up with ukactive as the Official Music Partner for National Fitness Day (27 September 2017); the annual initiative designed to promote the fun of fitness and physical activity through mass participation workout events held throughout the UK.

An Official National Fitness Day Playlist, based on PPL’s fitness sector music reporting data, has been created especially for the event and includes classics from The Jacksons and Run DMC as well as recent hits from the likes of Calvin Harris and Avicii.

Operators who registered to be part of the National Fitness Day event have been provided with the playlist alongside a pack of digital resources to ensure gyms and leisure centres across the country can get their classes moving to the beat today.

Former Principal of the Royal Ballet and Strictly Come Dancing Judge Darcey Bussell CBE kicked off proceedings for National Fitness Day at 7:30am hosting ‘Wake up and Workout with Darcey’ at Paddington Recreation Ground in London, based on her DDMIX training concept.

Darcey was then joined by stars from the venue operator Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions programme, with Olympic silver medallist hurdler Colin Jackson and Olympic gold medallist hockey forward Alex Danson taking part in the early morning workout. Musician Tiggs Da Author was also in attendance to warm up school kids at the event to his newly released track aptly named “Work It Out”.

Over at PPL’s headquarters in Soho, fitness instructors from Everyone Active are hosting a series of fitness challenges for employees.  Staff are being invited to pit their wits against each other in various challenges for the event, which forms part of a wider PPL Wellbeing Week initiative, organised by the company’s People & Organisational Development team.

Peter Leathem, Chief Executive at PPL said; “We are delighted to have been able to support National Fitness Day. Music can be a great motivational tool when working out.  We hope that the Official National Fitness Day Playlist will continue to inspire people to get active and most importantly, have fun whilst doing it.”
